Mario as Editor

As a grad student at the University of New Mexico, I had the honor and privilege to lead the team at Blue Mesa Review in 2020-21, as Editor-in-Chief. It was a valuable experience, granted our founder, the legendary Rudolfo Anaya past away at the beginning of my tenure. Therefore, it became our duty to honor such a New Mexico luminary. Below, please find issues #42 and #43 for your viewing pleasure, both dedicated to Rudolfo Anaya. To view the issues click on the underlined link

Next to the issues is the logo I made for BMR, which was used to create stickers. I designed the graffiti inspired logo when I served as Fiction Editor in 2019-20.

Produced in the midst of a global pandemic, our staff stayed dedicated to the task and completed issue #42. Bravo. This issue was our first to be dedicated to BMR's founder, Rudolfo Anaya, who introduced us to issue #1 in 1989. Link underlined above.

Our second memorial issue to Mr. Anaya, issue #43, published as COVID vaccines circulated the globe. Special thanks to Denise Chavez, Melina Viscaino-Aleman and Albert "Chale" Rosales - for the cover art. Link underlined above.

The newest Blue Mesa Review logo I designed, used as stickers and placed within a few publications, including here, on the cover of issue #41. Link underlined above.
